I recently bought a fun little tool to play with – a Yarnology Pom Pom Maker. I’ve been pom pom-ing my heart out. I like it because it helps me make fuller pom poms. Let me take you through the steps.
It comes with 4 sizes of maker. Each size has a set of 2 pieces.
Flip the hinges and open them up.
Holding the 2 pieces together with a hinge at each end……
……start wrapping your yarn around one half circle.
After filling in the half circle in one direction, continue wrapping it in the other direction.
Continue wrapping back and forth until the inner circle is filled in. Without cutting the yarn, wrap the other half circle the same way.
Then close the maker and flip the hinges shut. Cut your yarn off.
Cut the yarn following the slot all the way around.
It should look like this.
Cut a piece of yarn about 12-14 inches. Slip it into the slot, pull tight, and tie a knot.
Flip the pom pom over, and tie another knot on the other side. Do that a third time, and tie 2 knots.
Flip the hinges up.
Gently pull the maker off.
Fluff and trim as desired. And now you have a pom pom!
