I hope everyone had a great weekend. I finished up some enhancements to my sewing armoire.
Years ago this old piece used to hold my tv. About a year ago my hubby and son worked together to create a fold out table for me to sew on. To improve the lighting I just recently painted the inside white, and my husband added the under cabinet lighting for me.
To make the table, they first made a 3 sided box. Then they added a larger piece of thick plywood with a piano hinge. The plywood has been coated with polyacrylic so I won’t get splinters.
Then they put 2 adjustable fold out legs to hold the plywood up. The 3 sided box was to make the table a comfortable height while sitting in my chair. I use the space underneath for additional storage.
The 3 sided box is not as wide as the fold out table, because I needed space for an outlet strip for the lighting and sewing machine.
Another couple of recent updates was this narrow shelf near the top to hold a few items, and a dowel to hang items that I’m working on.
The ice cube trays hold all my bobbins. Now I can access them easily from the new shelf.
The bottom of the armoire has canvas bags for storage.
Have a great week!
