Hi all! I really hope that everyone got to see the Great American Eclipse today. It was the first time in my life that I experienced a total eclipse. I can’t express in words how awesome it was. It made me more aware of the cosmos, and how fragile our little planet is. One mishap to our sun and we’re doomed. We were very lucky to be right in the path of totality. So lucky that we were able to watch it from the air conditioned comfort of our foyer. See that window up there? We had perfect viewing of the whole event right from the floor of our foyer.
A few minutes before totality I took some photos from inside. Look what only a couple of minutes did to the sunlight just prior to totality.
Then we raced outdoors to experience it. Lots of neighbors ran out, too. I guess they were watching from the air conditioned indoors like us. It was about 92 degrees F outside, with a heat index of almost 100. And humidity about 60% or more.
Street lights came on.
And then totality and darkness. I don’t know how much, but the temperature dropped to a comfortable level. We just stood there in awe, speechless. On one side of the horizon it looked like very early dawn, and the other horizon looked like late dusk. It was phenomenal.
I obviously don’t know how to use my camera, or I don’t have the right lens, but here’s my feeble attempt at a photo of the totality. You’re better off viewing the Great American Eclipse from professionals on the internet.
The 2 plus minutes of totality seemed like just a few seconds. It made me realize just how fragile and dependent we are on the sun. As for me, I felt closer to the Creator.
