Are you having a New Year’s Eve get-together this year? Would you like an easy decor idea? Try a live cedar New Year’s Eve centerpiece. It only takes a couple of minutes to put this together. You get a lot of return for little effort. And who needs more work during the busy holiday season? Not I!!
You’ll need a vintage champagne bucket and a live cedar plant. Actually, it doesn’t need to be a vintage champagne bucket. I’ve had mine for years. Champagne and New Year’s Eve just seem to go together. Any shiny, silver container will work just as well.
You’ll want a couple of festive picks to pop into the plant. These are from At Home. I think they have a perfect ‘celebration’ look.
I didn’t plant the cedar in the champagne bucket’s container. There are no drainage holes, so I’ll be re-potting this cedar after the holiday. I just plopped it’s original nursery pot right in. That meant I needed a top dressing to hide the gaps. I tried using Spanish moss at first, but it took away from the festive, party appearance. Scrounging around a stash of decorating items, I found this silver tinsel. Perfect. So I stuffed some of it in the base of the plant.
Almost there. I felt like it needed something more. So I cut out the new year’s numbers from black glitter paper that I had. You could print something off or purchase a little sign. A dab from the glue gun keeps it on. Now I have a fun New Year’s Eve centerpiece for my buffet table.
It’s festive and bright, with a “Let’s Party” look! Happy New Year!!
