Would you like to learn the bead woven spiral rope stitch? I had decided to make my friends spiral rope bracelets. And while I was at it, I made myself a red and green one for the Holiday season. This is a good beginner’s stitch. It’s great for necklaces, too.
Making them is really easy. I’ll show you how. First I used size 8 seed beads for the center spine, and then I used size 3mm Czech and size 15 seed beads for the spiral. Feel free to use any size or type of bead for the spiral, but you probably won’t want to use anything smaller than a size 8 seed bead for the spine.
I started out by threading four of the size 8 beads onto my thread.
Then I put one size 15, two size 3’s, and one size 15 on my needle like the picture below:
Then I put my needle through the original four size 8 beads.
And pulled tight. It should look like the photo below.
We’ll call this next step “A”: Thread one size 8 bead. Pull it all the way down to the circle of beads just created.
We’ll call this step “B”: add one size 15 bead, two size 3 beads, and one size 15 bead onto the needle.
We’ll call this step “C”. Pass the needle through the top four size 8 beads, and pull tight.
Just repeat steps “A”, “B”, and “C” over and over until the length is 1/2 inch longer than the circumference of the wrist. Then you sew on whatever closures you want to use.
I hope my friends will like them. I love giving gifts, especially ones that I create. I have them all ready in their boxes. I can’t wait to see their reaction.
I hope these instructions were clear, and that you’ll be able to make some yourself some spiral ropes.
