Hi all! We made it to Kentucky and back home safely. We toured both the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. We thought both sites were interesting, but the Ark just blew us away. It’s supposed to be built to scale based on the Bible’s measurements. It’s enormous! You can see how huge it is by looking at the visitors in the bottom left of the picture. Noah’s neighbors must have thought he was a complete lunatic.
Here’s a view from the inside. Look how long it is, and I’m not even all the way back to one end. It’s 3 stories tall. If you plan a visit, wear your most comfortable walking shoes. There’s a lot of walking.
You could see that the Ark had plenty of room for all the animals. In my mind’s eye, I could never envision that. (The animals pictured are just replicas.) There was plenty of room for food storage, too.
There was room on the Ark for comfortable bedrooms for each of the 4 families. This is their vision of how they would have looked. I can’t believe it was that elaborately decorated. I always had the impression that the Ark was overcrowded, stifling, and that the inhabitants were huddled close together. This visit definitely gave me a new perspective.
Then we toured the Creation Museum, which is about an hour away from the Ark Encounter. It was interesting, but not as mind blowing. Sorry about the quality of the pictures. They’re from my phone.
They had beautiful exhibits. This is Adam naming the animals.
They even give camel rides. But no thanks. It didn’t look like a very comfortable ride.
The weather was beautiful and Kentucky is gorgeous. It was nice to get away and not worry about chores or meals or laundry.
