I’ll never look at grout the same after this project. I knew the grout in our foyer’s tile looked terrible. In our previous home I had used a bleach pen, which worked wonders. Except it had to be done at least once a year. So I did some research. The reviews of Polyblend Grout Renew claimed the results lasted for a few years. I decided to bite the bullet and try it out.
Here’s a before/after picture. It was really bad.
This product is a grout stain and sealer. I chose to use white, and I love it. Patience and perseverance are required. It took many hours over several days to apply. I worked on a small section at a time. You must have the willingness to torture yourself by sitting hunched over for long periods of time. I had to get up and walk around every so often to get the kinks out!
The supplies I used are:
Polyblend Grout Renew
a small squirt bottle
a spray bottle of water
- Pour some of the grout renew into a squirt bottle.
- Squirt it along the grout line.
- Using the toothbrush, push it into the grout.
- Using a piece of paper towel, wipe the excess off the tile. The product dries fast. I found that spraying the paper towel with a little water helped to remove it from the tile.
Because the original grout color was so dark, I had to apply 2 coats. Oh, boy, more fun.
Several days later and it looks like we had the floor re-tiled. And it looks so clean!
Would I do it again? grudgingly
Was it worth it? TOTALLY!
