Hi all! Do you have a room in your home that just needs a little freshening up? My master bedroom was one of those rooms. It didn’t need a paint job, the furniture is in great shape, and I like the simple decor. But it had some issues that needed my attention. No more ignoring them. It was time to take care of business and get it off my back.
- First task – update the nightstands. They were a creamy white with old broken hardware. A fresh coat of bright white paint and some nice shiny new handles. Not only do they look more contemporary, but they look brand new.
Hubby’s side. The prayer plant is about to open a new flower. Yay.
My side. There’s nothing better than live plants to decorate with. I stick with plants that are easy to grow.
- Next job – the bed skirt. When I want to wash it, I have to have my son lift the mattress so I can get it out. The mattress weighs a ton. It’s been frustrating to have to ask for help just to wash it. I cut the center out and attached binding to the top edges.
Using sticky velcro all around the top of the box spring, I reattached the skirt. I could have used double sided tape instead of the velcro and would have gotten the same result. The quilt covers the top of the skirt and no one is the wiser.
- Replace the blinds that came with the house. I’m pretty sure they must have been about 15 years old. They were badly yellowed. No matter how much bleach and Softscrub I used, they wouldn’t turn white. They always looked dirty. Now we have blinds that are not only clean, but look like it. Don’t you just hate it when you clean something and it still looks dirty?
- Purchase a new mattress pad. It feels good to have those loose odds and ends finally tied up.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
