Hi all! We made it to Kentucky and back home safely. We toured both the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. We thought both sites were interesting, but the Ark just blew us away. It’s supposed to be built to scale based on the Bible’s measurements. It’s enormous! You can see how huge it is by looking at the visitors in the bottom left of the picture.
Here’s a view from the inside. Look how long it is, and I’m not even all the way back to one end. It’s 3 stories. If you plan a visit, wear your most comfortable walking shoes.
There is plenty of room for all the animals. They don’t keep live animals there. Just replicas. And there was plenty of room for food storage, too.
There was room on the Ark for comfortable bedrooms for each of the 4 families. This is their envision of how they would have looked. I always had the impression that the Ark was overcrowded and stifling. I always imagined they huddled close together. I can see why it would take about 75 years to build. Most commentaries believe Noah had a work crew building it.
Then we toured the Creation Museum. It was interesting, but not as mind blowing. Sorry about the quality of the pictures. They’re from my phone.
They had beautiful exhibits. This is Adam naming the animals.
They even give camel rides. But no thanks. It didn’t look like a comfortable ride.
The weather was beautiful and Kentucky is gorgeous. It was nice to get away and not worry about chores or meals or laundry. But I’m refreshed and ready to get back to fall chores, garage chores, decorating for Halloween, and I’m hosting a family birthday party later this month. Would you believe that I’ve already been planning outdoor Christmas decorations? Our subdivision hosts a Christmas decoration contest. We want to join in this year, and I’ll start sharing those projects next month. After Christmas I’m going to need another vacation!
