Hi all! I got another autumn task done – washing the removable upholstery from my sofas. 4 years ago I intentionally bought this set because I could throw the covers in the washing machine. Don’t do this unless the manufacturer’s instructions allow it. Even so, it’s a lot harder job than I thought it would be.
Taking it off is easy enough. I wash it in the machine with cold water. Be sure to zip up all zippers. It takes several loads to get done. While waiting, I sprinkled the sofa’s with baking soda, and vacuumed.
Don’t put it in the dryer. It sure looks like a tangled mess when it comes out of the washing machine.
While it’s still damp, we put the covers back on. And this is the hard part. I have to have help from my husband or my son to put the muscle into pulling it down over the backs and arms. I swear it seems like it has shrunk a couple of sizes. But it once it’s back on, it looks great.
I let the cushion covers air dry because they are easier to put back over the inserts.
Fresh and clean. Those few wrinkles in the skirt will fall out over time. But if they bother you, it can be taken care of with a steam iron.
Fall is official this week, so I really need to stay on top of my autumn task list now. How is your list coming?
