Hi all! I’m finally wrapping up my weekly kitchen cleaning zones. I do this zone every Friday morning, because my hubby and I go grocery shopping on Friday evenings. Why do we go on Friday evenings? I don’t know. It’s just an old habit. I guess it works for us since neither of us think about changing it. The ‘experts’ don’t think Friday evening is a good time to grocery shop. But the experts aren’t here helping me get things done. I say that whatever time works best for you is the perfect time to get something done.
Well enough of my opinion. Onto kitchen cleaning zone 5. You can find the other zones here: zone 1, zone 2, zone 3, zone 4. This zone is where I clean the island and refrigerator. I don’t do a deep cleaning of the refrigerator. Just a clean out of leftovers and a quick swipe.
I start out by cleaning the granite top, followed by a polish of the stained island and wood tray.
I wipe down all the items that go in the tray. I keep pistachios here for my son when he visits. They are pricey and he can’t afford to buy them. He does a lot of chores for us that we just don’t have the muscle to do. It’s a little thing I can do to reward him. I also updated the decor in my apothecary from faux lemons to little brown balls for autumn. That little cup in the tray is a vintage shot glass with a secret.
It hides those little thingys that you find on the floor, but don’t know what they go to. I’ll ask around, and no one claims them. I keep them just in case one day someone notices that they are missing a piece to something. I might be a little OCD since they sit there for years unclaimed.
Next I move onto the frig. I empty all leftovers and old food, while taking an inventory of what we need for the grocery store. Then I give it a quick wipe with vinegar and water. We are definitely ready to hit up the grocery store.
Then I wipe clean the outside, and give it a polish with a stainless steel cleaner.
I perform these zone tasks Monday through Friday mornings. I spend about 10 to 15 minutes on them tops. No deep, deep cleaning is going on. I’m sharing them with you to hopefully give you some helpful ideas. If anyone can take away something that will work for them, I’m happy.
