Hi all! I was having fun with paint brushes recently. I know NOTHING about painting artwork. Absolutely nothing. But that didn’t stop me from giving it a try. Abstract art looks like a kid could do it, but just try it. It’s hard! At least for me it is. And I’m so clueless that I actually think this piece looks good. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
A couple of years ago I tried, and came up with this below. Even I think it’s lame. So I decided it was time to give it another try.
So I took that canvas and painted 3 shades in horizontal lines. I used metallic blue sapphire on the bottom, metallic blue lagoon for the middle, and blue heaven for the top. My idea was dark for the deep ocean, a blue green for the top of the ocean, and light blue for the sky. I had no idea what I was doing, but it seemed like a good start.
Then I decided to dab some blue and white paint along the lines separating the colors.
I used a foam brush’s tip to swish the paint up and down. And again between the top 2 colors.
I just kept doing the swishing with the foam brush, switching out colors. All the time expecting to just throw the mess away. Until I saw this below. I kind of liked that. I’m sure an artist wouldn’t like it, but I did.
Then I got daring. I started dabbing white splotches on it with a stencil brush. It’s supposed to be foam from a wave. I don’t know if I made it better or worse.
But I am very pleased with it, and it now sits on my vintage door pediment that I use as a towel holder.
Hubby screwed antique glass door knobs to the pediment and we use them as hooks. They are really handy.
So I am officially done with updates to the master bathroom. We started last weekend on fall maintenance tasks. The work never ends. I’ll be sharing that with you.
