Our master bathroom has been needing some TLC for a long time. Since no one sees it but us, I kept putting it off until now. I knew I wanted to paint the cabinets white, but the thought of it was making me cringe. Painting cabinets and furniture has to be my least favorite job. Butcha gotta do whatcha gotta do, right? I wasn’t going to pay someone just because I’m lazy. So a couple of weekends ago I knocked it out. You can see how I painted my kitchen cabinets here.
It was dusk when I was putting the third coat of paint on the doors and the dang electricity went out! There I was, in the dark, with a wet roller in my hand. Dear hubby came to my rescue and held a strong flashlight while I finished. It was over an hour before it came back on and I was able to clean up for the night. Here’s a before picture. The walls are Gauntlet Gray by Porter, but I don’t remember what color name the cabinets were. The room was too dark and too drab. I’m liking the contrast of the dark walls with the bright white.
Encouraged by the improvement, I decided to paint the back wall of the toilet closet. OMG. It was so dark in there! I kept expecting creepy crawlers to jump out at me. They never did, fortunately. It was so dark that I couldn’t get a crisp photo, even with the camera on a tripod.
I had to do something about it, so I painted the back wall Campfire Ash by Behr. It’s a super light greige. We also removed the hand rails that were on each side of the toilet. It feels larger. And no more delusions of creepy crawlers attacking me. I also got rid of the silly fish on the top shelf and put a grown-up vase in it’s place.
I still want to replace the sorry lighting, organize the cabinets, purchase a nice vanity stool, add a window treatment, and update the decor. I’m fired up now!
