We’re going to be hosting a social at our home soon, and the theme is ‘Butterfly Garden’. Since I had so much tissue paper on hand, making butterflies for decoration made sense to me. I don’t care to use it for wrapping presents because it tears so easy, so it’s just accumulated and accumulated. I’ve bought it to stuff in gift bags, but I typically only use one or two sheets for that.
All you need is tissue paper and pipe cleaners. I cut 4 sheets of different colors 12 x 12 inches. My pipe cleaner is 8 inches long.
Fold the sheets in half.
Then cut the edge like the picture below. I used my pinking shears.
Open it up, and scrunch the center.
Fold the pipe cleaner in half, and slip the butterfly into it.
Decide what length you want your body to be, then twist the 2 ends of the pipe cleaners to make antennas.
Pull the pieces of tissue paper apart carefully.
That’s all there is to it.
