I’ve been wanting a new planter for my dieffenbachia for awhile now. I have two other plants in the living room that have brown wicker planters, so I knew I wanted something different. And something with color. It actually took me a few months before I came up with an idea.
About 3 months ago I purchased one of these cute baskets at Dollar Tree, because I have stuff. And stuff that is similar needs to be corralled so I can find it. Well it sat in my craft room for a couple of months while I was busy doing other things. One day while watering my dieffenbachia I thought of this basket. And then the idea came together.
So I purchased some 4mm cord at Hobby Lobby in different colors.
First I popped the handle off. Using my glue gun I attached one end of the cord to the inside of the basket and wove it in and out, around and around, until the gaps were covered. Each color section took about 8 yards to cover it.
Then I wrapped about 20 yards around the rim in pink. And glued some 2mm white cord that I had, on the outside of the basket between the colors.
A little time consuming, but simple project.
I had plenty of cord left, and did another one for stuff on my deck.
I keep a jug of water outside for my deck plants, and a citronella candle. But they’re unsightly just sitting out there. The cute little basket keeps my deck from looking junky.
My deck rug is red, turquoise and yellow, so when it comes out for the season it should look cute together.
Gotta love those dollar stores!
