One of the ways I decorate pillow case dresses is to add appliques. It’s a great way to use up your scrap fabric while making these little dresses even cuter. I want to share with you a very simple, easy way to apply them.
You’ll need a template, scrap fabric, and Wonder Under. You can find Wonder Under or similar products in the fabric department. And of course, you’ll need your dress, or at least the front piece of it.
Pin together your template with the scrap fabric and Wonder Under. Cut out.
Using a very hot iron, no steam, to iron the wrong side of the applique to the bumpy side of the Wonder Under for about 8 seconds.
When the applique is cool enough to handle, peel off the Wonder Under. The sticky stuff will be left behind on the back of your applique.
Now you’ll want to use the steam setting on your iron to iron the applique to your dress.
Zig zag around your applique. Test width and lengths on your machine before actually sewing it on, to find your own preference.
And that’s all there is to it!
They’re sure to make a little girl smile.
