Happy Thursday! You might already know that I sew pillow case dresses for Operation Christmas Child. Every now and then I like to add a little extra decoration to them. With spring here now, pinwheels came to my mind. I hope the little girls will be thrilled with the extra bling.
Use a wide ribbon or flat lace trim, a small round piece of felt (mine is 7/8 inch diameter), and a button or something cute for the center.
Cut a piece of ribbon about 4 1/2 inches long.
Now fold it in half and cut from corner to corner, starting at the top of the fold and going down.
Do the previous steps 3 more times until you have 4 triangles.
Glue the bottom point to the center of your felt circle.
Repeat gluing the triangle points to the center of the felt until all 4 are in place.
Now glue one outside point of each triangle to the center of the felt.
Next I sewed the button and pinwheel to the dress. I also sewed a piece of rick rack on under the pinwheel, for it’s ‘stick’. This is optional.
You might want to tack down the points of the pinwheel.
