Howdy all! I recently recycled an old metal letter holder for additional storage in my craft room. I like my craft supplies to be organized but I don’t want to spend lots of money on brand new organizers. I want to use that money for craft supplies. My master closet can look perfect, but not my craft room. For me it should reflect creativity.
I found this piece a few years ago at a thrift store for a buck. It sat in my basement all this time because I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to deface a vintage item. It felt like erasing history. Silly, I know. It was in bad shape anyway.
First I gave it a light sanding, then I used Zinsser primer, and then a few coats of white paint. I spared the original labels to give it character.
I don’t do a lot of stenciling, so I can’t in good faith give tips on it. I used a variety of acrylic paint colors.
I know stenciling is not supposed to be perfect, but I’m not over thrilled with this. I’m going to do more stenciling projects so I can improve.
I painted the bottom hooks gold to stand out from all the white. I’m so glad that I finally painted it. It’s such a cute piece to hold important craft stuff. I love it!
