Hi all! How about another Valentine craft? I’m in the Valentine mood. Valentine’s Day means winter is winding down and spring is around the corner in this neck of the woods. That’s why I like it so much. If you follow me regularly you know that I sew lots of pillow case dresses, and that means lots of scrap fabric. I’m always keeping my mind on what to do with all those scraps. This time I made myself a scrap fabric heart.
All you need is a heart template, Wonder Under, and a pile of scrap fabric.
First I cut strips about 1 3/4 inches by 12 inches. Then sewed them together with 1/4 inch seams.
Here’s the back side of it.
Then I ironed the back side to the bumpy side of the Wonder Under with a dry iron. You can find Wonder Under in your fabric department.
Then I pinned my heart template to the piece and cut out.
Then peel off the paper.
Then I zigzagged it to my background fabric being careful to keep the edge centered. Test what width and length you want your stitches before sewing the heart on.
Instead of sewing back and forth to lock the stitching, I pulled the threads through to the back and tied knots.
A colorful heart for Valentine’s.
