Hi all. Valentine’s Day is coming soon so let me show you how I made woven ribbon hearts with what I already had on hand.
You need at least 7 1/2″ of two strips of ribbon each. You’ll want to treat the ends of your ribbon to prevent fraying. I used my Fray Check, but you could try the heat from a lighter.
I cut 2 pieces of the red ribbon – 4″ for one and 3 1/2″ for the other. And did the same with the cream colored ribbon. Then I treated them with the Fray Check, and waited 30 minutes for it to dry.
Using my glue gun I glued the short pieces on top of the longer pieces, lining them up at one end.
Then I glued the cream colored ribbon on top of the red ribbon, but at a 90 degree angle.
Take the top cream ribbon and slip it in between the 2 red ribbons. Glue in place.
Now take the top red ribbon and slip it in between the cream colored ribbons. Glue in place. You can see the heart forming.
Take the bottom cream colored ribbon and slip it under the red loop and glue in place.
Take the bottom red ribbon and slip it between the 2 cream colored loops, and then …
sliding it under the loops and in between the two cream colored ribbons. Glue in place. It’s a bit tricky. A little bit longer lengths of ribbon might make it easier. It took me awhile playing around with it to get it to work.
I glued them and some feathers to a couple of wood skewers to make arrows.
