Good morning all! We’ve had a busy weekend. Our church is sending off a total of 3,142 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child this morning. And now we all pray for the little ones who will be receiving them.
Now onto my post. I’ve been dealing with this problem for a few years, and it’s about time I did something about it.
I have a garden flag for every holiday and season. One little breeze and puff of wind causes my flag to wrap around the pole it’s hanging on. What’s the point of having a garden flag if it’s only going to look like this all the time? So off to Walmart I went. I didn’t know if this would work, so I was guessing as I went along. I purchased large eyelets and a tool kit for them, a package of book rings, and settled on 1 ounce fishing sinkers. I don’t fish, but I knew they used something heavy for some reason or another, and figured that I’d find something in that department that would work.
First I marked where I wanted my grommets to go.
Then I cut open the holes.
Push the collared part of the grommet into the hole.
Place the ring part of the grommet on top of the collared piece. Set your punch on top and give it some taps with your hammer.
Now it’s ready for the sinkers.
Open a book ring and wiggle the sinker onto it.
I added some pony beads to make it a little prettier.
I did this about three weeks ago. We’ve had storms and strong winds since then. The flag is still hanging straight. Yay, it worked!
I’m joining linky parties on my side bar.
