I’m back in action and ready to start posting again! I’m been so busy lately, and it’s nice to have a little time back to focus on posting. Our Operation Christmas Child packing party was a tremendous success and I’ll be posting about it later this month. We’ve also been taking long walks now that it’s cooler out. Last weekend we walked 4 miles. For most people that’s probably not a lot. We’ve been so out of shape that we felt we hit a milestone.
Now onto my latest jewelry idea. Simple bead circles. I’ve made earrings and bracelets using this simple idea.
For these necklaces I used:
22 6mm fire-polished glass beads
27 4mm glass pearls
11 aught seed beads
2 4mm jump rings
2 2mm jump rings
6 lb. Fireline beading thread
1 Thread 8 fire-polished beads
2 Pass your needle back through the 8 beads
3 Pull tight and tie a double knot
4 Pass your needle through the next bead
5 Add 1 seed bead, 1 4mm glass pearl, 1 seed bead, 1 4mm glass pearl, and 1 seed bead to your needle
6. Pass your needle back through the bead you just exited
7 Pass your needle through the next fire-polished bead
8 Add 1 seed bead, 1 4mm glass pearl, 1 seed bead to your needle
9 Pass your needle down through the first glass pearl and seed bead that you just added
10 Pull tight
11 Pass your needle back through the last fire-polished bead you recently exited from and through the next fire-polished bead.
**Repeat steps 8 through 11 until you’ve gotten all around the circle**
12 Pass your needle up through the very first seed bead and glass pearl that you added to this circle
13 Add 1 seed bead to your needle and pass your needle down through the last glass pearl and seed bead added. Pull tight
14 Pass your needle through the next fire-polished bead
15 Pass your needle up through the seed bead and glass pearl
16 Pass your needle through all the seed beads in the center and pull tight. You can add additional seed beads here if you want to.
17 Add a glass pearl to your needle and pass it through a seed bead, glass pearl and seed bead on the opposite side of the circle. Pull tight
18 Pass your needle through the next fire-polished bead, add 7 fire-polished beads and pass back through the last fire-polished bead you exited. Pass your needle back through all 8 fire-polished beads to tightly secure your next circle.
Repeat steps 5 through 17 to complete your next circle. Continue on with step 18 to add another circle.
I added 3 seed beads where I wanted to put my 2mm jump ring, but you can slip them through the thread if you choose.
Here I added about 7″ to 8″ of chain to each 2mm jump ring, with the 4mm jump rings and a clasp at the end.
I used this technique to also make bracelets. For these bracelets I used 4mm fire-polished beads and 3mm glass pearls.
I hope my instructions were clear and easy to follow. Let me know if you have any questions.
