Don’t you just love those multi strand bead necklaces? I sure do. They are super easy to make. I whipped out three in one weekend. A friend of mine, who knows I make jewelry, saw the one below and said “Now I know you bought that one.” That’s the best compliment I could get.

Now onto how I made this multi strand seed bead necklace. It’s 32 inches long. Make your necklace whatever length you desire, but I’ll describe how I measured for mine.
This necklace is 10 separate strands. For each strand I cut a piece of thread about 4 feet long. I used Fireline beading thread because it’s the strongest. String your beads.
Rather than counting the number of beads I was using, I just measured the length. Perfection is not required. For every half inch of the center color increased, the side colors decreased by a quarter inch each.
Strand 1: 10 inches of gold beads, 12 inches of turquoise, 10 inches of gold.
Strand 2: 9.75 inches of gold beads, 12.5 inches of turquoise, 9.75 inches of gold.
Strand 3: 9.5 inches of gold beads, 13 inches of turquoise, 9.5 inches of gold.
Strand 4: 9.25 inches of gold beads, 13.5 inches of turquoise, 9.25 inches of gold.
Strand 5: 9 inches of gold beads, 14 inches of turquoise, 9 inches of gold.
Strand 6: 8.75 inches of gold beads, 14.5 inches of turquoise, 8.75 inches of gold.
Strand 7: 8.5 inches of gold beads, 15 inches of turquoise, 8.5 inches of gold.
Strand 8: 8.25 inches of gold beads, 15.5 inches of turquoise, 8.25 inches of gold.
Strand 9: 8 inches of gold beads, 16 inches of turquoise, 8 inches of gold.
Strand 10: 7.75 inches of gold beads, 16.5 inches of turquoise, 7.75 inches of gold.
I then gathered all ten strands and slipped them through an eye pin for both sides. You can purchase eye pins, or make your own. Make sure there is no slack in any of the strands, and tie two knots securely.
I use E6000 jewelry glue and put a dab on each knot. Now the hardest part: wait 24 hours.
When your glue is dry, clip off the excess strands.
Slip an end cap on the eye pin, and using your pliers make a loop. I added a seed bead first, but you don’t have to.
I added a little chain, but again you don’t have to. Then attach your jump rings and clasp.
Here’s another one I made. It’s 12 strands at 15 inches long with different kinds of beads. It’s more of a choker than a necklace.
I couldn’t stop. I needed one for autumn clothing. This one has 7 strands at 20 inches long. Again I used different types of beads.
Do you have any creative ideas for making one?
