I hope everyone had a great weekend. We spent a few days in Branson, Missouri, to see the show ‘Moses’ at the Sight and Sound Theater. It was awesome. The weather cooled down making it so nice that we could stroll around the town comfortably. Just before we left for the trip, I finished up some enhancements to my sewing armoire. Yay!
Years ago this old piece used to hold my tv. About a year ago my hubby and son worked together to create a fold out table for me to sew on. To improve the lighting I just recently painted the inside white, and my husband added the under cabinet lighting for me. I can see!
To make the table, they first made a 3 sided box. Then they added a larger piece of thick plywood with a piano hinge. The plywood has been coated with polyacrylic so I won’t get splinters.
Then they put 2 adjustable fold out legs to hold the plywood up. The 3 sided box was to make the table a comfortable height while sitting in my chair. I use the space underneath for additional storage.
The 3 sided box is not as wide as the fold out table, because I needed space for an outlet strip for the lighting and sewing machine.
Another couple of recent updates was this narrow shelf near the top to hold a few items, and a dowel to hang the pillow case dresses when I’m working on them.
The ice cube trays hold all my bobbins. Now I can access them easily from the new shelf.
The bottom of the armoire has canvas bags filled with completed and partially finished pillow case dresses.
On top of the cabinet these tiers hold extra spools of thread.
Apothecary jars filled with more craft supplies.
All closed up and hidden away.
I am so enjoying finally working on this room. I’ve started sorting and organizing a ton of fabric that was donated to me for pillow case dresses. It’s been the major cause of mess in this room. Next week I’ll be done and show you what I’ve come up with.
Have a great week!
I’m joining the linky parties listed on my side bar.
