Good Morning! I am so excited to start showing my craft room. When we moved into our house 2 years ago, I had an incredible amount to do turning our house into a home. It’s a fairly new house but it had been used and abused. My craft room has been way down on my list of projects. Making sure my family was comfortable was the most important thing to me. I’ve been crafting and sewing in a disorderly room, that had been getting worse with each project I worked on. The biggest problem I have had is that like items have not been stored together. Spools of ribbon in different areas, yarn scattered about, and fabric piled up everywhere. Working in this room had become depressing and was giving me a rash. No ‘before’ pictures. I don’t want to remember where it’s coming from. To start the project, I gave the walls a fresh coat of paint last week. And now I’m going to share my first organized station – yarn storage.
I’ve never crocheted anything large, like an afghan, but I do like to make cute little things. That’s why I keep a rainbow of colors available. See the bright green folder on the right side of the shelves? That’s where I’m keeping instructions and booklets for crocheting. I’m making sure I can find what I need when I want it.
If I had owned one more skein of yarn I don’t know where I could have fit it in. At least now I know not to buy anymore, even if it’s on sale! The smaller pink container holds my pom pom maker, yo-yo maker, tassel maker. It may or may not stay in this yarn station as I continue to organize.
Two extra large apothecary jars hold all of my yarn balls. I couldn’t believe how they just managed to hold all the balls of yarn I own. Typically when I’m trying to organize a closet or cabinet I have too many items and have to figure out where in the world am I going to put it. But with this project, everything was working out just perfectly.
All of my crochet hooks are in this glass flower frog. I don’t knit but that tall needle comes in handy for other projects. The small glass jar holds all of my extra needles. Once I’ve organized other areas, I’ll remove all but the needles for yarn.
I’ve decorated the side of the shelves with some cute things I’ve made in the past.
The rest of the room is a nightmare, but finishing one section has me fired up. I’ve started working on my sewing station which I’ll share next week.
I hope I’ve inspired you to organize.
