For quite awhile now I’ve been coveting marble trays. They look so classy. But my pocketbook isn’t very classy. I’ve seen some examples on other blogs where they glued handles on a piece of marble. Those are beautiful, and less expensive. I had given that some thought, too.
I think blue and white pottery looks gorgeous on marble. Of course, everything looks gorgeous on marble. I sat on what to do for the past few months. Finally I decided to try the most inexpensive idea that I had, and go from there.
I already had marble contact paper. I had covered some foam board with it, and laid it on wire closet shelves. But I’ve got quite a lot of it leftover. So I purchased a wood plaque from Michaels with a 50% off coupon. I painted the edge of the plaque with gold acrylic paint. Then I just traced the top of the plaque on the back of the contact paper, and cut it out.
I really was surprised at how nice it looked.
When you walk past the dining room table, it looks like real marble.
How’s that for just over 6 bucks?
Now I’m off to cover more stuff with this contact paper.
Thanks for sharing.
