When we purchased this home under 2 years ago, our realtor gave us a cutting board for using his services. It was a nice gesture on his part, except that it had been engraved with his advertisement. I used it a couple of times, but it was so heavy that I preferred grabbing my other ones. With the recent kitchen updates it was time to put the board to use.
First I used wood filler in the engraving, and sanded it after it dried.
Then I randomly taped off sections and painted it with a few coats of acrylic paint.
After the paint was dry, I put 3 coats of poly-acrylic on it.
I added a couple of handles and am using it in my coffee station.
It just holds my coffee and sugar canisters.
Now I have some color and a contemporary look. Use what you have, right?
