The hallway is finished! New lighting was my last change and what a difference it made. Previously there were builder grade dimple lights in here, which were not only drab, but the covers were so thick that not much light came through. I found these quatrefoil pendants at World Market. The ceilings are 9 feet high so I could get away with installing pendants.
I already had this metal artwork, but the blue flowers were originally copper. Copper is good, but I wanted some blue in this piece. I painted a few coats of Metallic Blue Sapphire acrylic paint over it. The piece is a lot more vibrant now.
The hallway angles to the left and is the hardest area to photograph. Maybe this shot will give you a better idea of how it looks.
Here’s a view from the bedroom end:
And one more view from off the foyer:
I’m happy with how it’s turned out. I haven’t been able to decide on a rug, so I decided to hold off until something hits me. If I force myself to choose something, I usually don’t like it for very long. Best to just wait. Here’s a Before and After:
So far this year I finished the laundry room and hallway. And it’s only January! Next will be the living room. Painters are coming the second week of February. The foyer ceiling is 16 feet high, and I can’t get past 3 rungs on a ladder without crying like a baby. They are going the match the hall paint color and I’ll have a brighter house. Woohoo! Moving the tv over the fireplace will be our biggest challenge. I want to add trim and crown molding to give the space above the fireplace a custom look. Hopefully it will turn out. Stay tuned.
