I hope you are all having a great weekend. It’s icy cold here. I keep the bulk of my cleaning supplies in the laundry room. Remember this photo from my laundry room? See that shuttered cabinet back in the corner by the window?
Here’s a closer look:
It hides a dirty ‘clean’ secret:
I don’t like seeing cleaning supplies. It reminds me of work. I have managed to stuff as much in this narrow space as possible. It took awhile before I had it arranged where I could actually shut the door.
It’s not a real cabinet. I created it by screwing 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ boards together to make the box. The full size of it is 15″ x 6 1/2′. I screwed in a back plate of wood that I used to attach it to the wall studs.
You can see I’ve used every available bit of space.
I attached a long shutter with simple hinges for the door, and use an eye hook to keep it closed.
After trimming a shoe bag to fit the door, I arranged the cleaning supplies so the door would shut. Hmm, that’s an awful lot of chemicals. (Note to self-GO GREEN.)
Those sticky lint rollers attach themselves to everything! Since the cabinet is a few inches from the window wall, I put a command hook on the side of the cabinet that faces the window wall and hang it there by itself.
The cabinet doesn’t hold everything, so here’s my other hideaway:
I have laundry pedestals under my appliances to hold the bulky paper towels and other items.
When I was choosing sorting hampers, this one got picked because of the shutter doors. I was hoping to make the laundry room look more cohesive.
A final comparison. It took awhile to get it as functional as this, but I love it!
