With the holidays coming so soon, I really needed to get moving on the stairway leading to my basement. They are right off the foyer, and NO ONE can miss them.
When we bought the house it had horrible old carpeting on the stairs. Last spring we had new hardwood flooring put in three bedrooms, and since we had such a large order, they threw in new steps at a bargain price. But, oh, the original trim around it…
In real life it looked worse than this picture. It didn’t match the flooring at all. It kept nagging and nagging at me to do something about it.
I lightly sanded, then used a coat of Zinsser primer. Then two coats of gloss paint. I went with gloss because I wanted to be able to clean it without ruining the paint.
Once the paint had cured, I added a little vintage demilune table and hung a new abstract. (I’m really liking abstracts.)
Now I won’t have to be embarrassed when company comes. I’ll have enough to worry about with my cooking!
