I’m so tired of ‘chippy’. I loved it once. The ‘chippier’ the better. Now it just looks neglected and worn out to me. This vintage trunk stores all of my old photos and dvd’s, so it’s valuable for me to keep around.
I want a fresh upbeat look these days. And more color. With some help I dragged it outside for spray paint on the metallics. I didn’t bother taping since I would be repainting the wood. No point in extra work!
And then 2 coats of navy on the wood. I don’t know why I picked navy. It just kept saying ‘navy’ to me and I couldn’t shake it loose. Do you ever get an idea in your mind and nothing else will do?
It took a lot of hours with a tiny artist’s paint brush to cut in along all the metal, but tv got me through it.
I watched HGTV to keep me motivated. They’re always busy working on those reno’s, tearing down walls and tiling.
I had a spare glass sheet stored in our basement, and thought that it would be good for the top. It doesn’t exactly fit, but close enough. Then a piece of faux white fur to contrast the dark color. A lamp and some bling, voila!
Now I think my trunk looks glam. Do you have any ‘chippy’ pieces that you’ve updated?
